Association of Saarhütten
The Saarhütten Association is the trade and employers' association for the steel industry in Saarland as well as the Badische Stahlwerke in Kehl and Buderus Edelstahl in Wetzlar . As a labor and socio-political representative, it supports the interests of the member companies. The most important task of the Saarhütten Association is tariff policy. The association negotiates collective agreements with the responsible trade unions. The main negotiating partner is IG Metall . A total of around 15,200 employees fall under the social policy of the Saarhütten association.

- represents the members before the courts of labor and social justice.
- promotes the exchange of information and experiences between the members.
- provides information on current developments in collective bargaining and social policy as well as in labor and social law.
- informs the members about important HR data in the industry.
- ensures the active participation of the members in the organs of the social insurance institutions.

history
The association was founded as a trade and employers' association on December 17, 1974. Previously, as the “Saarland Iron and Steel Business Association”, it was a pure professional association that exclusively performed economic and political tasks for its member companies. From that point onwards, the “classic” tasks of an employers' association were also added, such as collective bargaining policy and advising and representing members in all labor and social law matters. This area of responsibility was previously the responsibility of the Verband der Eisen- und Metallindustrie des Saarlandes e. V.
