A consumer fair (also: public fair or visitor fair ) is a fair that is open to consumers as an audience. It has to be differentiated from a trade fair at which accredited trade visitors make up more than 50%. In some cases, trade fairs also do not allow the public. Most consumer fairs are also familiar with trade visitors, but the focus is on visiting consumers.

Most consumer fairs only offer goods in a certain category (e.g. consumer electronics , cars , travel ). It is characterized by the presence of both manufacturers and retailers . While the manufacturers usually take part there to maintain the brand image and present new products, for the retailers direct sales are usually in the foreground.

At large consumer fairs, an entrance fee is often charged for the visit .
