Merit Medal for Rescue from Danger (Hanover)

The Medal of Merit for Rescue from Danger was donated by King Ernst August I of Hanover on August 8, 1845 and could be awarded to anyone who had saved another person at their own risk.

The medal is made of silver and on the front is the portrait of the reigning King of Hanover as well as his name (e.g. ERNST AUGUST KOENIG VON HANNOVER) all around . The back shows an oak wreath with the words in the middle FÜR RETTUNG AUS GEFAHR.

The ribbon is orange with light blue stripes and the award was worn on the left chest.
