The Vereinigung Luftfahrt eV (VL) is a professional association for employees in civil German aviation based in Groß-Gerau . It has three local branches at Frankfurt, Hamburg and Düsseldorf airports. The VL is independent as well as politically and financially independent of parties, unions and commercial enterprises.
The voluntary federal executive committee consists of the federal chairman Frank Schott, his deputy Werner Zielina and the treasurer Reinhard Bind. The majority of the members are employed by Deutsche Lufthansa AG or the subsidiary Lufthansa Technik AG (LHT). The chairwoman of the Frankfurt local association, Anke Heß, is a member of the Lufthansa Technik AG Supervisory Board .
The Aviation Association publishes the association magazine VL-Magazin (formerly VL-Info), in which information is provided about the collective bargaining and professional policy work of the organization.

history

The Aviation Association was founded in 1975 out of the conviction that representation of the special interests of employees in civil aviation is only possible through an independent association. In 1986 a cooperation agreement was signed between the VL and the DAG ( German Employees' Union ). After the DAG was merged into the ver.di ( United Service Union ) in 2001, the VL signed a cooperation agreement with ver.di.
Through the current cooperation agreement, the collective bargaining interests of the Aviation Association are introduced and implemented in the group and business sector collective bargaining committees through its members with a ver.di or VL mandate. In cooperation with the global professional association AEI ( Aircraft Engineers International ), the VL's professional policy ideas are incorporated into international opinion-forming.
