Verena Schmitt-Roschmann

Verena Schmitt-Roschmann (* 1966 ) is a German journalist .

She studied North American cultural history , history, politics and communication studies in Munich . In Washington, she graduated from the American University's School of Journalism and obtained a Master of Arts degree in 1991.

As a political correspondent for the Associated Press news agency , she specialized in health policy, the environment and climate protection. Since 2010 she has been a national political correspondent for the news agency dapd in Berlin. In September 2011 she succeeded Ulrike Winkelmann as head of the politics department at the weekly newspaper der Freitag . In January 2013, she moved to the newly formed editorial team of the AP world news service, which belongs to the dpa news agency . In April 2013 she took over the editorial office.

Schmitt-Roschmann also made a name for herself as a columnist and author. Her book Heimat was published in summer 2010 . Rediscovery of a frowned upon feeling in the Gütersloh publishing house.

She is a member of the Federal Press Conference and the Berlin Press Club .

In 2012 it was awarded the Environmental Media Prize in the Print Media category.
