Behavioral Therapy & Behavioral Medicine is an interdisciplinary journal for scientists and scientifically interested practitioners. A first zero number was published back in 1979. The magazine has been published quarterly since 1994. Manuscripts are published on the development, course and treatment of mental disorders as well as behavioral and behavioral medicine-relevant problems. Submitted research papers are checked in an anonymised peer review process. In addition to overview work and original workShort research reports and case studies are also published, as well as practical reports and contributions to advanced training for psychotherapists .

From research
- Invited Reviews: Contributions to which authors have been invited by the editors.
- Original papers: Manuscripts with as yet unpublished scientific data from experimental, clinical or epidemiological research on behavior therapy or behavioral medicine. Contributions are peer-reviewed.
- Review: Review articles on topics of behavior therapy or behavioral medicine that proceed according to a defined scientific method, e.g. B. meta-analyzes or reviews based on a defined search strategy. Contributions are subject to peer review.
- Research Reports : Brief reports on current research, e.g. Partly also about ongoing research projects. Contributions are peer-reviewed.
- Individual case studies: with a structured structure, experimental design or controlled evaluation and theoretical presentation. Contributions are peer-reviewed.
- Contributions to advanced training: Contributions that process the current state of research in a special field and that are relevant for practitioners.
- Highlights from psychotherapy research: Summaries of current contributions from international research.

- Review articles on further training : Topics of behavior therapy or behavioral medicine under the aspect of further training relevance.
- International perspective: translations or summaries of articles published in English that are relevant to behavioral therapy or behavioral medicine.
- From practice for practice: case reports, information and materials on the practical, experience-based side of psychotherapy.
- Case presentations
- Controversial forum: experience reports, opinion articles, interviews, with controversial positions.
