Sales vehicle
Sales vehicles are vehicles with special superstructures and conversions on series chassis, which are designed for the direct sale of goods on overland tours or are also intended for the sale of goods in markets that offer stand space specifically for sales vehicles.
The base
In many cases, the basis for sales vehicles is formed by platform chassis or frame chassis with a gross vehicle weight of 2.8 to 7.5 tonnes, which can be upgraded or converted with the appropriate special bodies and conversions. The chassis can come from any commercial vehicle manufacturer that meets the legal requirements. Sometimes it is possible to separate the frame from the standard chassis and replace it with a special low frame in order to achieve a lower entry height and a lower counter height for customers.
The structure
The structure usually consists of a box body with connection and passage to the driver's cab, which consists of a sandwich panel in profile construction . Usually there is a large sales hatch that opens upwards and an additional door on the opposite side or at the rear of the body. There are also vehicles in traffic that have a fold-out folding device in order to form a tent unit with the semi-trailer .
Equipment
Sales vehicles are required for many purposes and are therefore divided according to the goods to be sold into:
- Bakery sales vehicles
- Meat shop sales vehicles
- Delicatessen sales vehicles (fish)
- Snack vending vehicles
- Merchandise sales vehicles (for everyday groceries mostly overland)
Depending on the area of application, sales vehicles differ in their individual fittings from food shelves to gas-operated ovens and microwave ovens to refrigerated counters . For several years there have been many manufacturers of sales vehicles who differ from one another in several different solutions to requirements.
Manufacturer
Large German manufacturers of sales vehicles are:
- GAMO Fahrzeugwerke GmbH
- Heineke-Borco GmbH & Co. KG
- ROKA-Werk GmbH
- Helmig sales vehicles
Legal
According to § 29 StVO (excessive road use), owners of sales vehicles need a stand permit from the local public order office , usually pay a stand fee and have calibrated scales and a cash register . In addition, they can be in the same location for a maximum of seven working days .
Vending vehicles that are identified as such in the vehicle documents and are used with permanently installed special equipment for customer service and presentation purposes are also exempt from the truck toll in Germany , as their structure and vehicle equipment make them unsuitable for the transport competition . The same also applies to teams consisting of a car towing vehicle and a sales car trailer.
