history

Plärrer Kaufbeuren bus station

In 1925 the transport company "Kirchweihtal" was founded. As early as 1927, the VG Kirchweihtal began taking over mail delivery services. In 1931 regular scheduled services between Kaufbeuren and Bad Wörishofen were started in the summer months. In 1940 the "Verkehrsgesellschaft Kirchweihtal GmbH" was converted into a limited partnership. In 1968/69 the school bus service and garage construction in Mindelheim were taken over. In January 1992 the company participates in the establishment of the Ostallgäuer Verkehrsgemeinschaft . The city of Kaufbeuren and the district of Ostallgäu joined VG Kirchweihtal GmbH as partners in March 1993. In 1996 bus travel was outsourced to the independent company KBR-Busreisen. In September 1999 the company moved into the new company building after its completion. In 2001, the new regular traffic in the city bus network began in Kaufbeuren, and the Kirchweihtal Stadtbus GmbH was founded in parallel. Just one year later (2002), Kirchweihtal Bus GmbH was founded, into which all of the company's minibuses were spun off. In the years that followed, more and more new low-floor buses were purchased. In March 2009, the city bus office at the Kaufbeurer bus station “Plärrer” was reopened as a service center for public transport.
