history

The company was originally founded by the former sales representative Albert Rosenthal , who went into business for himself in 1891 with a “luxury paper wholesaler and postcard publisher”. The company for decades working with their postcards - Publishing and in particular the entire Jewish family of the entrepreneur were from the era of National Socialism , however, always more coercive measures suspended by the Nazi regime to deportation in various concentration camps or death consequences. As a result, two employees initially continued to run the company.

In the post-war period and still under the British military authorities , a descendant of Albert Rosenthal sold the publishing house in 1948. This was finally bought in 1974 by the entrepreneur Günter Garbrecht, who continued to run the publishing house under the new name of Verlag Papeterie and incorporated two more formerly independent family businesses into this GmbH . The postcard publisher, also known as “ stationery ” for short after the original meaning of the word, celebrated its centenary in 1991 with a return to the overall history of the publisher.

In 2002 the company was renamed and given its current name. In addition to greeting cards and other cards such as mourning cards, the product portfolio also includes gift packaging, ribbons and other stationery. The range is particularly geared towards deliveries to specialist retailers.

Avancarte is a member of the Association of Manufacturers and Publishers of Greeting Cards (AVG).
