Veronika Petrovici

Veronika Petrovici (born July 23, 1934 in Tătuleşti ) is a plastic surgeon, associate professor for plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Medical Faculty of the University of Cologne . She introduced the method of surgical removal of arterio-venous malformations after superselective embolization.

Veronika Petrovici graduated from the Slatina state high school in 1952 with the Abitur. She finished her studies at the Medical Faculty of the University of Bucharest in 1959 with the state medical examination and received her doctorate with the thesis on epilepsy in cerebro-vascular diseases .

Veronika Petrovici received further training in plastic surgery from 1960 in the Clinic for General Surgery and in the Clinic for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Bucharest. In 1965 she was recognized as a specialist in plastic surgery.

In 1969 she moved to Germany , where she started working at the Clinic for Plastic Surgery at the University of Cologne, under the direction of Josef Schrudde . In addition to its obligations as a hospital doctor was Veronika Petrovici possible to work scientifically and in 1982 at the University of Cologne with the work contributions to the classification and treatment of Hautangiome to habilitation . In 1988 she was granted the rights of an "extraordinary professor" at the University of Cologne by the Minister of Education and Cultural Affairs of North Rhine-Westphalia .

The scientific work of Veronika Petrovici is characterized by studies on the classification, clinical features and therapy of cutaneous hemangiomas and vascular malformations. Their results have been published in numerous articles in specialist journals and in contributions to monographs. The following should be mentioned from their contributions:

The scientific work and clinical work of Veronika Petrovici was recognized by three honorary memberships: International Society for the Study of Vascular Anomalies , Romanian Academy for Medical Science , Jordanian Society for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery .

She is also a member of the German Society for Surgery , the Association of German Plastic Surgeons , the International Society for Burn Injuries and the Società Italiana di Chirurgia Plastica .
