Véronique Genest (born June 26, 1956 in Meaux , Département Seine-et-Marne ; actually: Véronique Combouilhaud ) is a French actress who was best known for the long-lived crime series Julie Lescaut .

Life

The daughter of a doctor and a secretary was already on the theater stage with an amateur troupe at the age of 15. After graduating from school, she failed the entrance exam for the conservatory in Paris , but in 1980 she got a small role in the Romy Schneider film The Bankers Wife . Already in 1981 she had her breakthrough in the lead role in the miniseries Nana , based on the eponymous novel by Émile Zola , in which she played a young woman from a small family who first rose to society as the mistress of a nobleman and then died.

Numerous other film and television appearances followed, before she took the title role in the 1992 crime series about Commissioner Julie Lescaut, of which 101 episodes were filmed by the end of the series. Véronique Genest also plays primarily in other television productions, and since 2012 has concentrated on the theater again.

She has been married to Meyer Bokobza since 1992 and runs the production company Sam named after her son (* 1996) with him . In 2010 she founded another company, the theater production company Madame Butterlight .
