AB Verpstas (after verpstė , dt. ' Distaff ') is a textile company in the Lithuanian city ​​of Šiauliai . In 1982 it employed 2,100 people.

history

In 1928 the company was founded as the “Elegant” knitting workshop. The company was nationalized in 1940 and lastly employed 35 people. The buildings were damaged in World War II . The company was re-established in 1944 and reorganized in 1945. In Soviet Lithuania it was renamed Trikotažo fabrikas "Verpstas" . In 1958 the company won a bronze medal for its production at the world exhibition in Brussels . 1982 we produced 2.5 million Upper jersey agen , (1.3 million adults and 1.2 for children), 4.2 million socks - and half pairs of socks worth 39.5 million rubles . In February 1987, engineer Aldona Miksene was elected director by the employees. From November 15, 1990 to August 19, 1992, the state enterprise Valstybinis trikotažo fabrikas was called "Verpstas" .

On August 19, 1992, the company became the joint stock company "AB Verpstas". From 1992 to 1995, the director Reimunda Ščeponavičienė took over the management. On May 21, 1996 a trade union ( Akcinės bendrovės “Verpstas” profesinė sąjunga ) was established. In 1996 the company had 1,591 employees. By 2002/2003 the number of employees had fallen to 530. In 2005 the real estate company UAB "Verpsto NT" was founded. In 2006 the turnover was 2 million euros, in 2007 1.3 million euros. The main customers were Scandinavian companies such as "First Factory", "MP Strik", "Martello", "Clipper" ( Denmark ), "Dale of Norway" ( Norway ). In 2014 the company had 100 employees. In 2014, the company owed the State Social Insurance Fund Board of the Lithuanian Ministry of Social Protection and Labor € 16,336 in social insurance contributions .
