Bydgoszcz Treaty

The Treaty of Bromberg was a treaty concluded on November 6, 1657 in Bromberg between the Polish King John II Casimir and Elector Friedrich Wilhelm of Brandenburg-Prussia . The contract confirmed the agreements made in the Wehlau contract.

In addition, it was newly agreed:

  • An "Eternal Alliance" between the two rulers.
  • Brandenburg-Prussia received the Lands Lauenburg and Bütow as hereditary fiefdoms.
  • Brandenburg-Prussia received the Starostei Draheim as a pledge against payment of a pledge.
  • In the case of extinction of the Brandenburg-Prussian line of the Hohenzollern in the male line should Duchy of Prussia to the King of Poland fall behind.
  • When a new Prussian duke was enthroned, the Prussian estates had to pay homagium eventuale to the Polish king and parliament .
