Treaty of Salomón-Lozano

The Salomón-Lozano Treaty is a multilateral general border treaty between Colombia , Peru and Ecuador dated March 24, 1922 .

Content of the contract

Peru split off the area between Putumayo and Río Caquetá and ceded it to Colombia, which gained access to the Amazon via the port city of Leticia .

consequences

Ecuador and Peru saw themselves being taken advantage of by Colombia, Ecuador also saw itself restricted in the east by Peru and Peruvian territorial claims.

Disputes over Leticia ultimately led to the Colombian-Peruvian War ; the controversial demarcation was also one of the backgrounds of the Peruvian-Ecuadorian war .
