Verucloetius
Verucloetius ("the famous") was a noble Helvetian . In 58 BC He negotiated together with Nammeius on the Rhone with Gaius Iulius Caesar , in order to get permission from him that the Helvetii could pass through the province of Gallia Narbonensis . Since Caesar refused, the Helvetii chose a more northerly route and were then defeated by the Roman army at Bibracte and forced to return to their old homeland.
