Location of the VG Östlicher Saalkreis in the Saalekreis

Originally eight municipalities had come together to handle their administrative business in the administrative community of Eastern Saalkreis from the Saalekreis in Saxony-Anhalt . Most recently there lived 16,343 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2006) on 125.36 km². The last head of the administrative community was Olaf Heinrich.

Although the name of the district changed with the district reform from Saalkreis to Saalekreis, the name Östlicher Saalkreis was retained and it was not changed to Östlicher Saalekreis , as the name of the area referred to the old district area.

history

The municipality of Brachstedt , which originally belonged to the administrative association , changed to the Götschetal-Petersberg administrative association on March 30, 2006 , which reduced the number of municipalities to six.

On January 1, 2010 the communities Niemberg , Oppin and Schwerz , on April 20, 2010 the community Braschwitz and on September 1, 2010 the communities Peißen and Hohenthurm were incorporated into the city of Landsberg .
