Content and production notes
“Verwunschen” comes close to the requirements of a concept album, it contains mostly open and hidden autobiographical titles like “ Bitter und Süß ”, “ Angstlied ” or “ Miruna the giantess from Gothenburg ”, which deals with the suppressed wishes of his father. The autobiographical title " Angstlied " deals with childhood experiences influenced by Catholicism (fear of an approaching thunderstorm; supplication of the Mother of God ) and later experiences in a Jesuit boarding school. Esmail Vasseghi played with traditional Persian instruments on the titles " Schnitterlied " (based on a Portuguese folk song) and " Rondeau " (based on motifs by François Villon ) . Freddie Hubbard had guest appearances in “ Miruna, the giantess from Gothenburg ” and Dino Saluzzi on the bandoneon in “ Tulio's song ” . Rene Clemencic played the flute solo in “My dearest, do away with the shadows” . Vincent Colaiuta, who had just left Frank Zappa's , contributed the percussion.
Andre Heller made the album known to a wider public in the GDR , as it was also released by Amiga in 1982 .
