Esmail Vasseghi

Esmail Vasseghi (* 1946 in Tabriz ) is an Iranian percussionist .

Vasseghi studied instruments such as tombak and santur at the Conservatory for Iranian Art and National Music, and at the same time musicology and composition at the University of Tehran . In 1974 he came to Vienna , where he attended the Academy of Music studied composition and under the influence of René Clemencic with medieval European music focused.

Until 1979 Vasseghi taught at the Conservatory and the University of Tehran. He has been a member of the Clemencic Consort since 1980 . He also works with ensembles such as the Trio by Toni Stricker and as an interpreter of traditional Persian music.
