The Vespa P 200 E is a motor scooter model by the Italian manufacturer Piaggio , which was built from 1977 to the end of 1982. The model was available in Germany from 1978. In the summer of 1978 it was exhibited in Germany at the motorcycle fair in Cologne. In contrast to the first Italian version, the P200E had "Senza Frecce" direction indicators .

design

The P 200 E was the most powerful variant of the "new generation" of the Vespa , which was initially called the Vespa P and later the Vespa PX and differed mainly in design from the previously built models. The newly designed frame of the P-series was physically larger than the previous models. The hoods became more angular and from around 1978 had integrated direction indicators.

The electrical contact for the indicators was passed through the locking pin for the bonnet. On the front, in the leg shield area of the P series, the direction indicators were attached to the side edges of the leg shield.

The leg shield has also been enlarged and designed in a square shape. The fender or the cascade also became more voluminous. The previously visible horn disappeared into the cascade. The cascade also hid a large distribution segment for power cables. On the other side of the leg shield, all P models got a voluminous luggage compartment.

engine

The 200 cm 3 engine developed 10 hp, the P 200 E reached a top speed of almost 105 km / h. On January 24, 1978, performance tests were carried out with the Vespa P 200 E. The place was the municipality of Vizzola Ticino in Lombardy in Italy . The track was a test track for the Pirelli company . The P 200 E was the VSX1T * 1389 *. The temperatures that day were 13 degrees. The following results were obtained:

  • 100 meters in 7.426 seconds
  • 200 meters in 11.859 seconds. A speed of 89.55 km / h was determined.
  • 300 meters in 15.738 seconds
  • 400 meters in 19.309 seconds. A speed of 104.04 km / h was determined.

A Vespa P 200 E rarely reaches a speed of just under 105 km / h in everyday life. The maximum speed is usually - for example on the motorway (straight route without a headwind) - around 90–95 km / h. This was shown by measurements with an additional digital tachometer, in which the wheel circumference was entered in the conversion formula.
