The Vetrov Hill ( Russian Сопка Ветров Sopka Wetrow ) is a 21 m high hill on the coast of the East Antarctic Queen Marie Land . It rises up on the east side of the entrance to McDonald Bay .
Aerial photographs of the US American Operation Highjump (1946–1947) were used to map it. In 1956, Soviet scientists carried out a new mapping and naming with the research ship Lena . This is either descriptive and translated means something like "Windy Hill", or was based on Alexander Ivanovich Wetrow, the then captain of the Lena . The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia translated the Russian name into English in 1960.
