history
The Rheingold Emmerich football club was founded on April 2, 1907 in the "English Garden" on Emmericher Hafenstrasse. The greatest success in the club's history was participation in the British Zone Championship in 1946 , where opponents such as the Meidericher Spielverein and Rot-Weiß Oberhausen were met. For the 1946/47 season, the VfB Rheingold was reintegrated by the association into the district league, group right Lower Rhine . Here, however, the club only finished 12th and last place in the table. From 1958 to 1986 the team played for 28 years without interruption in the Lower Rhine regional league . This was followed by 15 years in the district league, from the Rheingold in 2001 relegated to the district league A and two years later returned to the district league. In 2017, VfB Rheingold was relegated to the district league B.
