Football section
The football department of SSV Stötteritz was established in 1911 within the Stötteritz gymnastics association, which was founded in 1892, but subsequently appeared as a worker gymnastics and sports club Stötteritz. In 1924 Stötteritz merged with the Free Gymnastics Association Southeast Leipzig to form VfL Leipzig Stötteritz , later the club also entered under the name VfL Leipzig-Southeast .
On a sporting level, the Saxon workers 'club, along with the Dresden SV 1910, was one of the most successful teams in the championship of the Workers' Gymnastics and Sports Association . In the early twenties, Leipzig won the ATSB national championship three times , in which they prevailed in the final against Nordiska Berlin , BV Kassel 06 and Alemannia 22 Berlin . A stone commemorates a game between a German selection of workers and a Soviet team in 1927.
When the National Socialists came to power, VfL Südost was dissolved. Most of the team joined the SV Südost .
In 1945 the association was re-established as SG Stötteritz . The sports community operated until 1947 in the Leipzig City League , which at the time was comparable to the Berlin City League in terms of performance . Stötteritz missed the leap into the Leipzig District League, created in 1952 . In the period that followed, the company was renamed several times, with BSG taking on the role of Stern Südost Leipzig , Mechanik Südost Leipzig , and Motor Südost Leipzig . In 1956, a merger between Südost and Motor Stötteritz was completed to form BSG Motor Stötteritz . The BSG played no role in GDR football in the higher-class football, and only moved on the district class level. The club has been playing under the name SSV Stötteritz since 1990 . The current league after relegation in 2015 is the district league A Leipzig.
