history

The club was founded as the Casseler Ballspielverein in 1906 in the vicinity of the Herkules brewery. After the First World War , the ball athletes reached the top division of the West German Game Association (WSV) with the Hessen / Hanover regional league , but were immediately relegated. The BV 06, located in the industrial milieu, then registered its teams in the Workers' Gymnastics and Sports Association (ATSB), which competes with the DFB anchored in the middle-class camp . Twelve months later, the Black-Reds were able to celebrate as the most successful soccer team in town to date, because the final of the German championship in the workers' association had been reached via the regional championship round and after victories over Germania Wilhelmshaven and ATSV Rheinau . In front of over 60,000 spectators, however, on July 24, 1922, they lost 4-1 to VfL Leipzig-Südost in the final .

BV 06 returned to the WSV as early as 1925. There they knocked on the door of the top division, but failed in the promotion games to the district league in 1926/27 to Germania Fulda (1: 2, 2: 5). The next attempt was made by the black and reds in 1934/35, when the team around Hessen selection player Köhler became district champion, but failed in the promotion round to the Gauliga at VfB Kurhessen Marburg . In the meantime, moved from the sports field at the Herkules Brewery to Tapsgasse, at the end of the 1940/41 round they were finally promoted to the Gauliga Kurhessen after they had prevailed against VfL Marburg and RSV Petersberg with only one loss point in the promotion round . In the debut season 1941/42 , BV 06 was able to defeat local rivals BC Sport and CSC 03 Kassel and at the end of the round held the class with 7th place. The circumstances of the Second World War and the numerous air raids made gaming operations increasingly difficult . After BV 06 had finished the 1942/43 season with only three wins, they joined forces with their neighbor BC Sport Kassel to form a war syndicate on October 22, 1943 , but immediately had to stop playing completely.

After the end of the war and the associated formal dissolution of the associations, the connection with the newly founded SG Blau-Weiß Kassel initially remained. While the traditional club BC Sport was newly established in 1947 and still exists today, the Ballspielverein 06 was not re-established.
