VfL Nord was founded in 1896 under the name Berliner FC Favorit from 1896 and was one of the founding clubs of the DFB . From 1904 the club appeared as a Berliner SC favorite and acted between 1911 and 1918 for three seasons in the Oberliga Berlin. Until the end of the Second World War , the BSC favorite no longer played an important sporting role in Berlin football. When workers' sports clubs were banned in 1933, the Pankower SC 08 Adler team joined the BSC, which had won the ATSB championship in 1928 .

In 1945 the BSC Favorit was dissolved and re-established as SG Nordbahn . The sports group Nordbahn took part in the Berlin City League as early as 1945 , in which the qualification for the Oberliga Berlin was clearly missed. The club, which was renamed VfL Nord Berlin again in 1947 , was a fixture in higher-class West Berlin local football until the mid-seventies, commuting without exception between the Oberliga Berlin and the Amateur League Berlin . In 1951, VfL Nord took part in the first German amateur championship . In the first main round, the Berliners clearly failed at the later title winner Bremen 1860 with 1: 4.

In the 1967/68 and 1969/70 seasons, VfL Nord was promoted to the Berlin Regional Football League . However, the regional league turned out to be a number too big for VfL and the club rose with the BFC Südring and SC Staaken by return of post. After being relegated from the amateur league in 1973, VfL Nord merged with BFC Nordstern to form SV Nord-Nordstern Berlin that same year . Nord-Nordstern Berlin also failed to return to higher regions and in 2001 merged with Rapide Wedding to form SV Nord Wedding 1893 .
