history

Soccer

Founded until World War II

The association was founded in 1911, at that time there were two other associations in the city: Victoria 1911 and Alemannia . Due to the First World War , there was a shortage of players, so the club merged with Victoria in 1911. At first, the club appeared as the Nierstein football club , and around 1920 the name Verein für Rasenspiele 1911 , which is still valid today, was created . In 1922 the club was the only one in the vicinity to join the South German Football Association . In the 1932/33 season, the district champion title succeeds, with which the club was able to rise to the then second-rate district league. In 1936, the National Socialists forced a merger with the gymnastics club to form the gymnastics and sports community of Nierstein , but three years later the game had to be stopped.

post war period

After the end of the war, the association was re-established in 1946. The first general assembly takes place a year later. At the end of the 1948/49 season, the first team then succeeded in the district championship and thus also promoted to the second-class state league at that time. The first season in the Landesliga Rheinhessen / Nahe then ended with 25:31 points and eighth place in the middle of the table. After the 1951/52 season , the state league was dissolved and due to 16:36 points and twelfth place, the club then had to compete in the fourth-class 2nd amateur league Rheinhessen for the next season .

Between 2nd amateur league and A class

In the 1968/69 season, the championship in the A-class can be retracted, which means the team can return to the 2nd amateur league Rheinhessen. This succeeded again in the 1975/76 season and in the 1982/83 season.

Current time

In the 2003/04 season, the first team played in the Bingen district league and was fifth there with 51 points. At the end of the 2005/06 season, they managed to finish second with 70 points, which means that the team was able to gain promotion to the Rheinhessen district class. With 35 points they placed 11th in the first season. In the 2017/18 season, the league, which is now called A-Class, wins the championship with 66 points ahead of FSV Oppenheim and thus promotes to the district league. The club still plays in this league to this day.

Handball

In 1976 a women's handball department was established in the club. This then becomes Rheinhessen champion in 1977 and is promoted to the second-class regional league at the time. In 1980, the Rheinhessen association also won the cup. In the 1980/81 season the Rheinhessen Championship was won again, but the decision was made against promotion, and the trophy was won again this season. In 1989 the women managed to get promoted to the Oberliga Rheinhessen again. There, in 1995, the championship and a return to the regional league succeeded. In 2010 the women joined TV Nierstein .

Other departments

A women's gymnastics department has existed as a further department since 1972 . Since 1996 there has also been a karate department, which has so far achieved several German championship titles.
