Vic Dana
Vic Dana (born August 26, 1942 in Buffalo , New York ) is an American dancer and pop singer who was mainly successful as a singer in the 1960s.
Life
Sammy Davis Jr. spotted eleven-year-old Vic Dana at a dance performance in Buffalo. Davis advised the family to move to Los Angeles so Dana could perfect his training as a dancer and singer. From 1960 onwards, Dana put his dancing ambitions on hold and concentrated on a career as a solo singer. Joint appearances with the group The Fleetwoods , in which he later also temporarily represented the singer Gary Troxel, helped Dana to a record deal with the record company Dolton Records . Alongside the Fleetwoods and Ventures , Dana became the Seattle- based firm's most successful artist .
Under the catalog no. 34 Dolton released Vic Dana's first single in January 1961, entitled Someone New / The Girl in My Dreams . However, it was only successful with the third record, the title of which was Little Altar Boy in November 1961 on the Billboard Hot 100 and rose to number 45. By 1970 Dana was represented with 15 titles in the Hot 100; he had his greatest success in 1965 with Red Roses for a Blue Lady . The song peaked at number 10 and stayed in the Hot 100 for ten weeks.
After the Dolton label, on which Dana had recorded 23 singles within six years, was bought up by the record company Liberty , this released Dana's records from 1967. His first Liberty record (# 54547) included the re-releases of his two previous hit titles Red Roses for a Blue Lady / Shangri-La . Of the 13 singles Dana released on Liberty, only two made it into the Hot 100 in 1970: If I Never Knew Your Name at # 47 and Red Red Wine at # 72. In 1970, Dana's record deal with Liberty expired, and so did it followed two unsuccessful single releases on Columbia Records . He had one last success in 1976 with the title Lay Me Down , which was published under No. 93 at Casino, and reached number 20 on Billboard's easy-listening charts. After the end of his artistic career, Vic Dana settled in Pacuduh, Kentucky .
