Vicente Sáenz (born September 30, 1896 San José (Costa Rica) , † 1963 ) was a journalist .

Sáenz graduated from high school in San José in 1915. In 1916 Sáenz went to the Repton School in Tarrytown in Hudson (New York) and the Carlton Academy in Summit (New Jersey) . Shortly after he settled in New York, Defense Minister General Federico Tinoco Granados campaigned for President in Costa Rica on January 27, 1917 . Thereupon the young teacher Sáenz and writer - he had already written the novel Traidores y Déspotas de Centroamérica - sparked an intense protest campaign against the Tinoco regime. In August 1935, Sáenz founded the Partido Socialista Costarricense . In 1938 he came to Mexico at the invitation of the founder, former head and owner of the Mexican daily newspaper El Universal (Mexico) Ing.Félix F. Palavicini. He had a great friendship with Palavicini since their stay in the USA. He became the editorial secretary of the Mexican daily newspaper with the highest circulation at the time. He founded his newspaper in English and with this enterprise he was able to lead a violent campaign against the dictators and tyrants of the small republics of Central America.
