Vicente Antonio Zeballos Salinas (born May 10, 1963 in Moquegua ) is a Peruvian politician and lawyer who was Prime Minister of Peru from September 30, 2019 to June 15, 2020 . He was previously Minister of Justice from 2018 to 2019. He is known for leading protests against the third election of then-President Alberto Fujimori in 2000. He has been a member of the Peruanos Por el Kambio party since 2017 and was previously a member of the Unión por el Perú .

Career

Zeballos went to the Simon Bolívar School in Moquegua. He entered the Universidad Inca Garcilaso de la Vega , where he studied law and political science and received his law degree. He specialized in constitutional law and political science at the Centro de Estudios Políticos y Constitucionales in Madrid (Spain). He also received his PhD in Constitutional Law from the Complutense University of Madrid . From 2003 to 2006 he was mayor of the Mariscal Nieto provincial parish in Moquegua . In 2011 he became a member of the Congress of the Republic of Peruelected where he represented the Moquegua region. He was appointed Minister of Justice on June 28, 2018. In 2019 he was appointed Prime Minister.
