Moquegua is the capital of the Moquegua region of Peru . It is located in the district of the same name in the Mariscal Nieto province . The city is located in the southeast of Peru 1144 kilometers south of the state capital Lima at an altitude of 1410 meters above sea level. In the urban area of Moquegua, 37,518 inhabitants lived in the 2017 census. 69,882 inhabitants lived in the conurbation.
The city of Moquegua has been the second bishopric of the diocese of Tacna y Moquegua since 1992 , the main church of the city is therefore the co- cathedral .
Infrastructure
There are several schools in the city and the UJCM University - San Antonio campus, as well as the 25 de Noviembre stadium and the Cesar Torke Podesta regional airport .
