Vicentico Valdés
Vicente Valdés Valdés (born December 10, 1919 in Havana , † June 26, 1996 in New York City ), known as Vicentico Valdés , was a Cuban singer.
Live and act
Valdés began his musical career as a member of the Septeto Nacional , Cheo Belén Puigs Charanga and the Orquesta Cosmopolita . In 1944 he went to Mexico, where his first recordings were made, and two years later to New York, where he appeared with Chico O'Farrill , Mario Bauzá , Panchito Reset , Orlando Vallejo , Antonio Machín and Fernando Storch's Conjunto Caney , among others .
Numerous recordings were made with the orchestras Noro Morales ' (1947) and Tito Puentes (1949). In 1953 he recorded with the Sonora Matancera in Havana, and from 1954 he directed his own orchestra in New York. He became famous with the boleros En la imaginación , Deja que siga sola and Tú dominas . His repertoire included compositions by Alberto Vera , Marta Valdés , René Touzet , Armando Peñalver , Luis Yáñez , Jorge Zamora , José Antonio Méndez , Ángel Díaz and others. In 1958 he won a gold record . His brothers Alfredo , Marcelino and Oscar Valdés were also known as musicians.
