Victor Armenise , also Vito Armenise and Victor Arménise , actually Vittorio Armenise (born January 4, 1896 in Bari , Italy , † after 1956) was an Italian cameraman for domestic, French and German films .

Live and act

Armenise began his film career shortly after the end of the First World War . From 1919 onwards, he worked in Italy as head cameraman for the next seven years with some of the leading directors of those silent film years, including Amleto Palermi , Carmine Gallone and Augusto Genina . The latter took him to Berlin in 1927 , where Armenise made a total of four films with him and Gallone this year and next.

During the period of upheaval from silent to sound film, Armenise finally found himself in Paris, where he photographed numerous entertainment productions without any artistic value over the next quarter of a century. Interrupted only by a trip to London , where the southern Italians in 1936 in two productions with junior Douglas Fairbanks , designed Armenise in standing behind the camera France the appearance of comedies such as drama, adventure stories like schmaltz, fictional works like melodramas. His directors included veterans such as Julien Duvivier , Maurice Tourneur , Robert Vernay , Jean Boyer , Georges Lacombe and Henri Diamant-Berger .

After his last job, the now 60-year-old ended his active film career and disappeared from the public eye without a trace. His date of death is so far unknown.
