Victor Goldschmidt (philosopher)
Victor Goldschmidt (born September 28, 1914 in Berlin ; † September 25, 1981 ) was a French philosopher of German origin.
Life
Victor Goldschmidt was born as the youngest child of the legal scholar James Paul Goldschmidt (1874–1940) in Berlin. In the 1930s he emigrated to France, where he completed a degree in philosophy. He taught the history of philosophy at various French universities, from 1956 to 1966 at the University of Rennes , from 1966 to 1976 at the University of Clermont-Ferrand and most recently at the University of Amiens .
Act
Goldschmidt's main research interests lay primarily on Plato and Platonism, on which he has presented numerous publications, as well as on Rousseau , Montesquieu and others.
