Victor Meirelles
Victor Meirelles (born August 18, 1832 in Nossa Senhora do Desterro , † February 22, 1903 in Rio de Janeiro ) was a Brazilian painter .
Life
Meirelles grew up in Brazil. After finishing school, he studied painting at the Academia Imperial de Belas Artes in Rio de Janeiro and for a few years in Paris and then returned to his native Brazil. Meirelles painted numerous pictures, especially those with a religious and military background.
