Victor Riquetti

Victor Riquetti Marquis de Mirabeau (born October 5, 1715 in Pertuis , † July 13, 1789 in Argenteuil ) was a French economist ( physiocrat ) and writer. He was the father of the revolutionary Gabriel de Riqueti, comte de Mirabeau and his brother André Boniface Louis Riquetti de Mirabeau . The ancestors of the Marquis originally came from Florence, but were banished from there in 1268 and then went to Marseille.

Victor Riquetti was a follower of François Quesnay in Paris and wrote a. a. the three-volume economic work 'Philosophy rurale (ou, Économie générale et politique de l'agriculture, reduite à l'ordre immuable des loix physiques & morales, qui assurent la prospérité des empires)', published in 1763.

Like his father Jean-Antoine de Riqueti (1666-1737), Victor Riquetti served in the French army. He fought in the War of the Austrian Succession and the War of the Polish Succession .
