life and work

Saglier is known for his Art Nouveau work and made several pieces for Louis Majorelle , Daum and Émile Gallé . His style is typically French Art Nouveau in the language of the École de Nancy . He was often inspired for his work by nature, the logic of which helped design shapes as well as decorations. The sign of the master silversmith Victor Saglier is a sailing boat with three masts in an oval shape, surrounded by the letters V and S in a rectangle.

Saglier made everyday objects such as vases, bowls and jugs made of glass with metal mountings, jardinieres , tea and coffee services and candlesticks in bronze or yellow metal, silver-plated or cast zinc .

When he died, the Victor Saglier company at 12 Rue d'Enghein in Paris became Saglier Frères . It was run by his brothers Eugène and André until he died in 1948.
