Viktoria Tolstoy (born July 29, 1974 near Stockholm ; actually Louise Viktoria Kjellberg ) is a Swedish jazz singer .

Life

The singer joins the group of Scandinavian jazz singers who have received much attention. The descendant (maternal great-great-granddaughter) of the famous Russian writer Lev Nikolajewitsch Tolstoy has recently received a lot of attention, even without special singing training.

On her CD Shining on You , released in 2004, she presents herself as an all-rounder with her direct, swinging voice. On the CD mentioned, she sings songs by Esbjörn Svensson ( est ); Toots Thielemans and Nils Landgren support them. In 2006 Tolstoy recorded a cover version of the song Te Amo Corazón , which Prince released in 2005 as the first single from his album 3121 .

The CD My Russian Soul , released in autumn 2008, is based on Russian pieces of music, the selection of which is inspired by classical composers - above all Peter Tchaikovsky - as well as by Russian folk songs. The pieces were arranged by Jacob Karlzon and Joakim Milder , the texts are mainly by Anna Alerstedt.
