Adolph Bridge
One of the listed candelabras

The Adolphsbrücke crosses the Alsterfleet in Hamburg . The street of the same name connects the New Wall and the Old Wall . It is a brick segment arch bridge with three semicircular segment arches . There are pulpits on both sides above the pillars . The architect was the bridge builder Johann Hermann Maack . The bridge was built in 1845. During the construction of the S-Bahn tunnel under the Alster, it was demolished around 1972 and then reconstructed, the vaults being made of reinforced concrete. It is 36 m long and 11.4 m wide.

The bridge is named after Adolf IV von Schauenburg and Holstein , founder of the Maria Magdalenen Monastery on Adolphsplatz of the same name .

The four candelabra on the Adolphsbrücke, also based on designs by Johann Hermann Maack, were entered in the list of cultural monuments of the city of Hamburg on March 12, 1943 (No. 14221). The Roman number MDCCCXLVI in the base of the candelabra stands for the year of manufacture 1846.
