Four old maple trees

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Four old maple trees is the name of a natural monument with the list number ND-7332-521 in the Rhineland-Palatinate municipality of Dirmstein . Only three of the former four Norway maples still exist, so that the official name is actually out of date.

The location of the trees, each 15 to 18 meters high, is Koeth-Wanscheidsche Castle at Herrengasse 45 , where they flank the courtyard entrance on the street. To the right of this, parallel to the low courtyard wall, are two of the trees, and one to the left; of the fourth on the far left, only the stump has been visible for years . The trees were possibly planted when the palace park behind the palace was created, which was laid out around 1830 by the landscape architect Johann Christian Metzger .
