The four federal government (even fools aristocrats or rebel guilds ) is an association of fools guilds from Rottweil , Oberndorf , Elzach and Ueberlingen .

History and structure

In the course of the 1950s, within the Association of Swabian-Alemannic Fools' Guilds, which was founded in 1924, disputes over the preservation of traditions in the Swabian-Alemannic carnival occurred . Further points of contention were the annual fools' meeting and a discussion about the merger with Rhineland carnival associations. In 1953 the tradition-conscious fools' guilds from Elzach, Rottweil and Überlingen left the association. They were followed in 1955 by the Historical Narro Guild Villingen 1584 eV and on January 12, 1958 by the Narrenzunft from Oberndorf. The fool's guilds from Elzach, Rottweil, Überlingen and Oberndorf joined forces in 1963 to form the Alliance of Four. The four-league was sealed with a handshake. There is no association or a written statute.

Fool's day

The four guilds meet every three to four years for a big fool's day. The first meetings took place before the Alliance of Four was actually founded. Apart from taking part in the fool's days, the four guilds do not take part in parades or other events held by other fool's guilds. The term "fool's day" was chosen deliberately to differentiate itself from the fool's meetings of the other fool's guilds. The idea of leaving the guilds of Rottweil, Elzach and Überlingen was decided at the end of the 1930s. However, World War II postponed this idea . Fool's days begin for the spectating guests with the traditional fool tree setting by the Überlingen fool's guild on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. The Elzacher Schuttige torch relay follows on Saturday evening, in which the other three guilds also take part. The actual fool's jump takes place on Sunday afternoon, as at other fools' meetings. He is headed by the guild that hosts the following Fool's Day; the end is formed by the host guild.
