Quarter one

Viertelein was a measure of volume in Germany and Switzerland (see also Vierteli ). In the Kingdom of Württemberg it was a grain measure and it was calculated:

  • 1 quarter one = 8 ¾ Parisian cubic inches = 2/11 liters = 0.18 liters (exactly 0.17307 liters)
  • 4 quarters = 1 corner / small
  • 32 quarter one = 1 four of a kind
  • 128 quarter one = 1 Simmer / Simri
  • 1024 quarters = 1 bushel
  • 1 liter = 5.7769 quarters

As a measure of liquid in the Swiss canton of Friborg , the measure with pint was and was

  • 1 bottle = 19 2/5 Parisian cubic inches = ⅜ liters = about 0.38 liters
