Viewster was a video-on-demand service founded in 2007 with headquarters in Zurich. Viewster had a selection of free movies. It was an alternative to paid providers or illegal film sites.

history

Viewster AG was founded in 2007 as Diva AG by Kai Henniges and Jörg Boksberger in Zurich ( Switzerland ). Viewster had offices in Zurich, Hamburg , London , New York , Singapore and Adelaide . In 2011 the range was renamed from Diva to Viewster.

The video-on-demand supply are of Viewster was available in over 100 countries and more than 10 languages. These include: English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Russian, Swedish and Turkish.

According to the press report, Viewster had around 29 million visitors worldwide every month.

On December 11, 2018, it was announced that the US company Cinedigm had bought the streaming service and would take over the operation of Viewster from January 2019. As of January, the Viewster offer was taken offline and a maintenance notification was displayed. The website now redirects to contv.com.

Content

Movies

Viewster had licensed over 5,000 films. This includes Hollywood productions and independent films from many countries around the world. The offer varied from country to country due to the contracts with the studios. The film ranged from thrillers , comedies , science fiction , love movies , action movies , dramas to horror films . There was also a selection of short films and classics.

Series

Viewster also offered a free selection of current TV series in some countries . These included The Inbetweeners , Shameless , Peep Show and others.

Technical

Films and series could be viewed worldwide via stream via the website. A subscription or registration was not required. From 2012, Viewster provided apps for Android and iOS devices. An app was also available for Internet-enabled Samsung TVs .
