The hamlet of Vigana is 300 to 370  m above sea level. M. and about 100 to 170 meters above the Magadino plain in the Swiss canton of Ticino .

Vigana is divided into Vigana di Sotto and Vigana di Sopra . Vigana di Sotto with today (2017) 32 inhabitants belongs to the municipality of Sant'Antonino and Vigana di Sopra belongs to Camorino . The north portal of the Ceneri base tunnel is located below Vigana di Sotto at the level of the Magadino plain . This was named after the hamlet Portal-Vigana described here . Vigana di Sotto is on the SBB - and earlier Gotthard Railway - route over Monte Ceneri .

Vigana is a residential region without any noteworthy economic operation. Located on the northern slope of the Alpe del Tiglio , the place only has sun from January 10th to December 1st.
