Viking Hockey was a Norwegian ice hockey club based in Stavanger . The team played from 2000 to 2006 in the 1st divisjon , the second Norwegian division.
history
In 1998 Viking Hockey succeeded Viking IK , which had been dissolved two years earlier for financial reasons . The club played in the 1998/99 season in the Eliteserien , the highest Norwegian league, and from 2000 to 2006 in the second division 1st division . After the club was originally supposed to build on the successful time of Viking IK, who had played uninterruptedly in the top Norwegian league for 18 years, the Stavanger Oilers , founded in 2001, finally won the upper hand in the city and have played in the GET leagues without interruption since 2003 .
In 2014 the association withdrew from the 1st divisjon and was dissolved.
