Viktor Blaess

Viktor Blaess (* 12. September 1876 in four home ; † 16th August 1951 in Darmstadt ) was a German mechanical engineering - engineering .

Life

Viktor Blaess was born as the son of the landowner Edmund Blaess and his wife Marie Babette. Forrer born. He studied at the TH Darmstadt from 1896 to 1902 . Then he first went to the Borsig works. From 1905 to 1909 he was a senior engineer at Schiele in Frankfurt / M. On October 1, 1910, the government master builder Blaess also received the title of graduate engineer. In that year he became a private lecturer for technical mechanics and rotary machines at the TH Darmstadt. From 1916 he held dynamics lectures as an honorary professor at the TH Darmstadt. In 1919 he became associate professor there , then in 1920 full professor for applied mechanics and vibration theory,

He founded a laboratory and workshop and created a large collection of dynamic teaching models by 1936. Alongside Lebrecht Henneberg and Wilhelm Schlink (physicists), Blaess is one of the founding fathers of mechanics at the TH Darmstadt.

In the early 1940s, Blaess participated in research on rocket technology in the Peenemünde project, along with numerous other Darmstadt professorships .

Viktor Blaess retired at the end of the winter semester 1948/49.

Blaess had been married to Maria Hangen, daughter of Darmstadt professor Philipp Hangen , since 1903 .
