Viktor Siegl
Viktor Siegl (born August 20, 1952 in Vienna ) is an Austrian author and journalist . Until October 31, 2014, he was also head of the Supreme Shipping Authority in the Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology .
Life
After graduating from the Vienna XIX Federal High School, Viktor Siegl studied law at the University of Vienna ; In 1978 he was promoted to Dr. jur. PhD. He began his professional career in 1978 in the Austrian Ministry of Transport, where he became head of the Supreme Shipping Authority in 1989. In 2014 Viktor Siegl retired as a ministerial advisor.
In addition to his work as a lawyer in the Austrian Ministry of Transport, Viktor Siegl made a name for himself as one of Austria's most prominent wine journalists. He played a leading role in the Austrian trade journal Vinaria from its inception in 1981; to this day he is active there as a tasting manager, author and columnist. He has written numerous articles in a number of specialist magazines and books on the subjects of wine, the wine industry and wine culture.
His journalistic activities primarily focus on Austrian conditions, and he has also written many articles on international wines and wine-growing regions. Together with Rudolf Steurer, Viktor Siegl founded a periodical on the best wines in Austria in 1996, which has been published 24 times in book form (as of 2019). On April 30, 2015, he was awarded the professional title of Professor for his commitment as an adult educator in the field of wine and wine culture.
