Viktor von Ponickau

Viktor von Ponickau (born June 27, 1808 in Falkenhain , † April 7, 1889 in Meuselwitz ) was a large German landowner and administrative lawyer.

Life

Viktor von Ponickau came from the Meißnian line of the Upper Lusatian noble family von Ponikau and was the son of the Naumburg Chamber Councilor Johann Heinrich Friedrich von Ponickau on Falkenhain. He studied at the University of Leipzig and became active in the Corps Saxonia Leipzig in 1827 . On October 11, 1838, he married Elisabeth von Minckwitz (1812–1862) as a government assessor. From this marriage four children were born, from whom Georg von Ponickau inherited the paternal goods. As lord of Pohla in Demitz-Thumitz and Falkenhain, he was district administrator of the Zeitz district and chairman of the district knighthood. He earned lasting services in his office as Prussian district administrator in the province of Saxony from 1840 to 1848.
