Vilja and the Robbers (original title: Me Rosvolat ) is a Finnish film directed by Marjut Komulainen and based on a series of children's books by Siri Kolu . The cinema release in Germany was on September 3, 2015.

action

11-year-old Vilja is accidentally kidnapped by a Finnish robber family during the summer holidays, just as she was absolutely annoyed by her sister and the rest of the family and the holidays were threatening to get boring. Her new "robber parents" Karlo and Hilda are now happy about the new playmate for their two children Kalle and Hele.

At first Vilja was still thinking about fleeing, but the more time she spends with the robbers, the better she likes it there. Vilja makes new friends and enjoys the robber life, which consists of traveling around the country by bus. After all, she also supports the robbers in a robber competition.

criticism

The film service criticized that the "dramaturgically as well as dramatically loveless adaptation of children's books" did not manage to "convey the maturation process of a girl in a believable and sensual way". In addition, "[s] lapstick-like, clichéd adult characters [...] would [restrict] the enjoyment of the wooden film".
