The August Wilhelm Blase villa is a listed secular building on Gallenkamp 25 in Lübbecke in the Minden-Lübbecke district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

History and architecture

The residential building stands on a ridge on the outskirts, in the middle of a park. It was built in 1934 by Karl Krause for the cigar manufacturer August Wilhelm Blase. The axially symmetrical structure under a hipped roof stands on a rectangular floor plan. The corners of the building are rounded, and the windows, which are also rounded, are cut directly into the wall. The balconies on the narrow sides lie over funnel-shaped consoles. A cloverleaf-like extension protrudes in the southwest. In the portal with a bulge like garb and blasted Abschlussgesims Gothic and Baroque elements are added. It is accompanied by passport windows on the side . The floor plan is based on that of a traditional villa . Living space The corridor and winter garden are in the central axis, but over circular or ellipsoidal floor plans. Flat domed vaults were drawn into the rooms . The stairwell is kept in soft, organically modeled forms.

Residents

After the end of the Second World War, the villa was inhabited for two years by the British Commander-in-Chief of the British occupation forces in Germany, Bernard Montgomery .
