Salleh Said Keruak

Malay name : The part of the name "Said Keruak" is a patronymic and not a family name ; so the person's name is Salleh .

Honorable Yang Berhomat Datuk Seri Panglima Salleh Said Keruak , SPDK , MLA (born July 9, 1957 in Kota Belud ) is a Malaysian politician and current spokesman for the Sabah Legislative Assembly . He was also the 9th Prime Minister of Sabah State from December 1994 to May 1996.

Life

Salleh Said Keruak was named Mohd. Salleh bin Mohd. Said was born in Kota Belud . He completed a bachelor's degree in political science at Simon Fraser University in Canada and then obtained a master's degree in governmental and political studies at the Universiti Putra Malaysia .

Salleh is married to Raya Erom and has two sons and two daughters.

Political career

After completing his studies, he first worked as a District Officer for the Kota Belud District .

Until 1991 Salleh was a member of the Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) party . After leaving the PBS, he joined the United Malays National Organization (UMNO) party in the Barisan Nasional coalition government on April 31, 1991 . He has held various offices in the state cabinet over the years, including finance minister, minister of local government and housing, and deputy prime minister.

On December 28, 1994, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Mahathir Mohamad, appointed him 9th Prime Minister of Sabah State. He succeeded Sakaran Dandai in office. His term ended on May 26, 1996; his successor was the leader of the SAPP party , Yong Teck Lee .

On January 4, 2010, Musa Aman appointed him Minister of Science and Technology Advisor. He succeeded Tham Nyip Shen, who was also previously Deputy Prime Minister.

On January 12, 2011, he was appointed Speaker of the Sabah Legislative Assembly .

In his UMNO party , he is currently Deputy Liaison Deputy Chairman for the Sabah area . He is also chairman of the Sabah United Bajau Organization (USBO) .

Participation in associations

On January 1, 201 Salleh was appointed by the Federal Minister for Information, Communication and Culture, Dr. Rais Yatim , appointed chairman of the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) .

Awards and honors

After his appointment as Prime Minister, he was awarded the Grand Commander of the Order of Kinabalu (SPDK) . This honor includes the right to use the title Datuk Seri Panglima in the name.
