The Villa Fallnichtein is a listed building on Robert-Diez-Straße 2 in the Loschwitz district of Dresden .

history

The villa was built around 1570 on the Loschwitz vineyard and is one of the oldest houses in the district. While the ground floor is surrounded by stone walls, the upper floors are made of wood. A no longer preserved wine press showed that the house was originally a winemaker's house .

At the beginning of the 19th century the house was so dilapidated that it was nicknamed Villa Fallnichtein around 1820 . The house has kept the name to this day, even if neutral names such as Alte Bergvilla or Lehmanns Praise after the owner Lehmanns Gottlob.

In the late 19th century, the dilapidated building was discovered by artists who drew it for its romantic location in the vineyard and its original character. The Loschwitz photographer August Kotzsch immortalized the Villa Fallnichtein around 1870 in several photographs.

In the 20th century, the villa first became the property of the city of Dresden, which sold it to the commercial judge Emil Preuss. In 1937 he had the first renovation measures carried out on the building, for example removing the house's wooden stairs. In 1998 the villa was completely renovated. Since 2005 it has been used by a bassoon workshop, today it is an upholstery shop .
